We have lived a time when diversity and inclusion has finally been embraced. However, despite being a theme that drives the success of companies, it is also a reality that still brings challenges and adaptation to society. Providing an inclusive work environment should be a priority for any business. Have you ever noticed whether your company's human resources team is sourcing on talent with disabilities? Many companies are failing to generate cultural wealth that a workplace of diversity and inclusion can generate, in addition to being able to obtain a highly qualified workforce to compose the team.

Creating employee engagement and diversity allows the establishment of a respectful, supportive, and productive workplace. It is about maintaining an open and accessible environment, where all employees can participate and contribute to the company's growth, seek professional development, and meet both expectations. What are some factors to be considered to reinforce this reality of diversity and inclusion?
1- Recruitment of diverse talents.
2- Inclusive, collaborative, and committed leaders.
3- Incentives for collaboration, creativity, and innovation.
4- Strengthen policies, programs, and culture of equity and accessibility in the company.
5- Identify possible bias and develop an action plan to overcome these barriers.
6- Invest in transparent communication within the company.
A strong example that we can mention today is the increase in the number of companies that embrace neurodiversity and are waking up to the countless talents offered by Autistic employees, for example. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), refers to conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, and verbal and non-verbal communication. It is important to increase knowledge about and inclusion through the recognition of the value that everyone has, seeking involvement and training.
Companies, instead of promoting a sense of appreciation, respect, attention, and development of teams represented by diversity, end up losing qualities and talents shared by employees with autism, as mentioned in the previous example. Some qualifications that can be highlighted are the strong attention to detail, honesty, loyalty, creativity, and commitment to quality.
In view of the considerations, we conclude that we are in the golden age of diversity and inclusion, and that companies need to transform this into strategic objectives. Including awareness about it in internal communications, politics and culture is essential. All employees are entitled to the same learning and development opportunities, as well as having different and unique talents to contribute to the organization's success.
It is time for everyone to take responsibility for diversity, equity, and inclusion not only in the workplace,
but also, in our lives!
